This was shot as a submission to a photo contest on Google+. The idea was that the contest sponsor would annouce a topic and you had three hours to shoot, edit, and upload your submission.
The contest started at 7am on a Saturday morning. I woke up, checked the topic, and realized I could shoot it in the parking lot at my apartment complex. So I went back to sleep, and nearly overslept. In fact, by the time I had edited the image and uploaded, there were only two minutes to spare.
I produced this from three exposures, run through Picturenaut HDR software. I then brought them into GIMP, added a layer from the original mid-exposure as an overlay, sharpened things up a bit, and dropped the saturation. I also added a little noise to give it a grainy look.
