One of the great exhibits at the Orange County Fair the last couple of years has been the Ice Museum. Kept at perfect temperatures to preserve the ice, they even give you parkas and insulated ponchos to wear inside. At the back of the museum, they were carving a larger display while you watched. Using all manner of power tools and chisels, they “liberated” the ice carvings from the frozen blocks of clear ice.
