America’s Family Pet Expo Breaks Animal Adoption Record Again

via America’s Family Pet Expo Breaks Animal Adoption Record Again.

The World Pet Association’s 22nd annual America’s Family Pet Expo, held April 15 to 17 in Costa Mesa, Calif., resulted in a record number of animal adoptions, organizers reported today. A total of 682 animals were adopted from local animal shelters at this year’s event, breaking last year’s record of 668 adoptions.

This is awesome! AFPE is really a great event, and there are so many animals there looking for homes. While it might break your heart to see them, it’s good to know that nearly 700 found new homes because of the show.

The tally for animals was: 563 dogs, 88 cats, 12 rats, seven guinea pigs, seven chinchillas and five rabbits. How the chinchillas outnumbered the rabbits, I’ll never know.

As a reminder, there’s still plenty of time to buy a book to benefit Coastal German Shepard Rescue in Orange County, CA. For every copy of “Forever Home” purchased before 11:59p on Sunday 5/1/11, the entire profit ($5) goes to the rescue. It’s a great looking book, will fit in nicely on your coffee table, and you’ll help a great cause. The books start at $19.89 for a softcover, $31.39 for a hardcover. You can flip through the book below. With your help, more pups can find their home.
OK, after some thought, I decided to do something different.
