On The Road To The Castle

This shot was taken from the shuttle bus heading up the hill to Hearst Castle. The day was overcast, and the clouds weren’t that interesting – at least not at the time. What I was really shooting for was the foggy look of the headlands in the distance. Wrong lens for that. Continue reading

Where’s Richard Dreyfus?

Devils Tower, Wyoming“Close Encounters of the Third Kind” is one of my favorite movies, as much for the score as for the story.

Devils Tower is a prominent feature in the movie, both in it’s reality and as sculpted in mud and mashed potatoes. It was a very cold day which made for a crisp clear sky. Very beautiful. Continue reading

Touch The Sharks

I love my digital camera (even if I do want a new one…), but there’s something about the quality of film. This image was shot with my Pentax ME Super on film at Mandalay Bay’s Shark Reef. My daughter was just watching the sharks swim by, feeling the cool of the glass. And yet, the film added an emotion to the image. Continue reading
