Four Possible Endgames in Wisconsin | Mother Jones

A good analysis of possible endings in WI. Republicans could try the end-run options to pass the legislation, but this faces a significant problem. If the protests had not been going as long as they have, the end-run solutions would receive little scrutiny, and they’d pass the bill. But with all the attention they have received and will continue to receive until the issue is resolved, these solutions will be revealed as the cynical ploys they are.

No Abortions, But Let’s Fund Horse Contraception

One of the first efforts by Republicans after taking the House wasn’t job creation. No, after trying to , they went after abortions. Now, in a juxtaposition that could only be found in DC – Republicans are attaching an amendment to a spending bill for – wait for it – horse contraception. From Politico: Rep. [...]

Really, Bachmann? Breastfeeding?

Bachmann is trying to make some kind of connection to “suckling at the government teat” using the breastfeeding issue. She rails against a tax break for breastfeeding equipment. But if you really want to see whose nursing from the government’s ample bosom, you need look no further than Bachmann’s family, who have made their livelihood with the considerable assistance of government farm subsidies. The family farm received over $250,000 in subsidies between 1995 and 2006. That’s a whole lot of breast pumps.

Hey Tea Party – How’s It Working Out For You?

Anyone who has actually spent any time objectively looking at the development of the Tea Party and the co-opting of the Tea Party by the Republicans could have seen this coming. Republicans used the Tea Party momentum to get themselves into office, but once there, began quickly discarding the promises they made.
